Be sure to stop by the PTO table on Registration Day, August
8th or 11th. We'll be
able to answer your questions about the Hixson PTO and its role in the
school community. You will also be able to turn in your volunteer
forms or fill it out online right there. (If you prefer, you can also
sign up now by checking out the tab at the top of
the HixsonPTO.blogspot.com page.) We still need several
chairs/co-chairs for committees. If you are interested in taking the lead for
Book Fair, Career Fair, Fundraising, Hospitality, or Student
Activities, please let us know. There are also several
opportunities to help with the Holiday House Tour (our biggest fundraiser).
A lot of great ideas came out of our first
Communications Committee meeting. We'll continue the discussion at
the Principal Coffee on August 22nd at 8:45 a.m. If you'd like to
leave your comments/suggestions now, please take the Parent Website Poll on our
site.
Also, some people may not know that Hixson has a Box Tops program,
so don't forget to turn in those Box Tops that you've been saving!
Finally, this year in an effort to simplify fundraising for the
many programs that the PTO sponsors as well as Rachel's Challenge, we will be asking for each family to make a
monetary donation. While any amount will be greatly appreciated and put
to good use, you may consider $20.19 if you child is in the Class of 2019 or
$20.20 if you child is in the Class of 2020. We have made it very easy to do by setting up a PayPal account so you can securely pay via credit or debit card
(you can find the button on the HixsonPTO.blogspot.com page as well). Of
course, you can send a check or cash to the office - just note it is for the
PTO fundraiser. If we get good participation in this fundraising effort,
we will be able to avoid doing any of those other fundraising type activities
like selling wrapping paper or pizzas that we all dread. Thank you in
